Arab
American Heritage Commission a Reality
Aref Assaf
October 31, 2008
A very long
pregnancy indeed. But what a baby! We have endured what
seemed at times monumental obstacles and impossible dreams to
get the idea of the Arab Heritage Commission accepted and
finally acted upon by Governor Corzine. Thanks to many of you
who have sent their good wishes on this historic occasion. Now
it is up to the newly appointed commissioners and to the
promising leadership of Chairman Hany Mawla to nurture and raise
our infant idea into a profound and timeless accomplishment. We
at the AAF stand fully behind the Commission and its new
leadership. We welcome the Star Ledger's
lead supportive editorial in today's paper. We are happy the
Star Ledger has posted the topic on its
NJ
Voices
site and you now have an opportunity to discuses the Commission.
I have agreed to soon join the NJ Voices team of bloggers and
will write about Arab and Muslim issues. Here is the
link to the topic's introduction. Please sign up and make
your NJ Voices heard all over the world. What's next on our
horizon? The NJ Arab Cultural Museum, you bet!
