Inspiration Award

CAIR-NJ's 8th Annual Banquet to celebrate the
American Muslim narrative and our community's achievements. We
will be honoring outstanding individuals who are making a
difference.
This year's CAIR-NJ Inspiration Award will be presented to
Ibtihaj Muhammad.

Ibtihaj Muhammad
is an American sabre fencer and a 2012 Olympic hopeful. She is a
2-time U.S. National Champion, the 2010 Pan American Bronze
Medalist, and a 4-time world cup finalist A proud resident
of New Jersey, she was a 3-time All American and Junior Olympic
Champion at Duke University.
Winning a bronze medal at the 2011 World Championships in Italy,
Ibtihaj is the first Muslim female to compete on a U.S. World
Championship Team. Her U.S. Squad captured the gold medal
at the XVI Pan American games in Mexico just weeks later.
She is ranked 2nd in the United States and has attained a
ranking as high as11th in the world. She is hoping to become the
first Muslim woman to represent the United States in Olympic
competition while wearing a hijab.

around the world.
