A Change for the better at ADC-NJ
June 9, 2007
We wish to extend our congratulations to Mr. Salah Mustafa who was recently
elected to serve as the fifth President of the New Jersey Chapter of American
Arab Anti Discrimination Committee, ADC-NJ. ADC is the largest Arab American
organization and which over the last three decades has steadfastly championed
the cause of defending civil and political rights of Arab Americans.
By any measure, the election of Mr. Mustafa is a welcome development and one
which we cautiously but optimistically support. Having worked with Salah on
various efforts during my service both as Media Chair and also as ADC's
President, I am confident that he will be a fine example of the much needed
visible leadership qualities and limitless drive to carry out the mission of
ADC.
Salah and I worked closely two years ago to secure a generous donation of
$100,000 to open up the Chapter's office in Clifton. For reasons that need not
be explored now, I left ADC NJ and the Chapter entered a period of disarray and
limited action. We hope that the new leadership will soon implement a more
vigorous plan to regain the title of the spokesman and defender of the NJ Arab
American community. If Salah is given the opportunity to both lead and delegate,
ADC-NJ will succeed.
It is our hope that the Board of ADC-NJ will earnestly extend its hand to assist
the new President as he embarks on a much unenviable task. We at the American
Arab Forum offer our resources to collaborate with the new leadership by
building on past successes and envisioning and nurturing new ones.
