An Iraqi Infant goes home a new man
May 26, 2008
We have
shared with you the heartwarming news about little Karar, the 7 month
old baby from Iraq who was brought here with the efforts of so many people
and organizations t o receive not one but two heart surgeries. With a
corrected heart pumping much needed oxygen into his blood, Karar left
for Iraq on Sunday afternoon. with his over joyous mother.
Saying
goodbye is never easy but knowing that we had a small imprint on the
child's life is immeasurably satisfying. The home stay was a join
collaboration between the Suqi family and the Assaf. We wish Karar and
his family a brighter future and we hope they will be able to return the
favor onto some other needy children!
A short email
tells how it feels to help others.
" As a chairperson of the Gift of Life, I'd
like to specially thank two families who opened their hearts and their
homes to Karrar and Hannan: Aref Assaf and his family, and Ali Suqi and
her family. Both of these fine families clothed, fed, housed, and
otherwise treated our guests as if they were "family". I hope they
found it a rewarding experience - they did nothing short of playing a
pivotal roll in saving the life of a child. "Thank you" hardly
seems enough." Brian Romanowsky, Gift of Life Chairman Rotary
District 7470 NJ.
