There she goes
again. Anne Coulter the blond but legally
repugnant right wing pundit, now has a new victim for
her vicious and hurtful words. We in the
Arab and Muslim community have endured her
utter disrespect for our culture and
religion.
I shiver at
her depiction of
Islam as a religion whose whose tenets are
"along the lines of 'kill everyone who
doesn't smell bad and doesn't answer to the
name Mohammed.'"
She has mocked our customs,
belittled our intelligence and down right
justified our expulsion from this country.
In a recent
article she suggested that Islam is "a
car-burning cult," and wrote that Muslims
have "a predilection for violence."
In her most
recent
book
(2004), Coulter wrote: "I am often asked if
I still think we should invade their
countries, kill their leaders, and convert
them to Christianity. The answer is: Now
more than ever!" She reiterated this stance
on the October 4, 2004, edition of Fox News'
Hannity & Colmes:
COLMES: Would you like to convert these
people all to Christianity?
COULTER: The ones that we haven't killed,
yes.
COLMES: So no one should be Muslim. They
should all be Christian?
COULTER: That would be a good start, yes.
Her newest scapegoat is Judaism and the
Jewish people. She may have stumbled upon
her executioner this time, we hope.
Arguably , you don't have to be a republican
to be also a bigot. But is it a Republican genetic malfunction to so
unabashedly demean other religions? Just
last week, most Republican congressional
representatives did not vote for a
resolution on Islam and Muslims.
Rep Peter King (R-NY) complained about
having two many Muslims in America. Senator
John McCain (and presidential candidate)
recently said that, "America is a "Christian"
nation and that he would not be comfortable
with a Muslim in the White House."
In response to a question from Beliefnet.com
about the possibility of a Muslim
presidential candidate, the Arizona senator
said: "I just have to say in all candor that
since this nation was founded primarily on
Christian principles, that's a decision the
American people would have to make, but
personally, I prefer someone who I know who
has a solid grounding in my faith."
A "clarification" issued by the McCain campaign failed to address the issue, but focused instead on the senator's belief that "people of all faiths are entitled to all the rights protected by the Constitution." McCain's campaign spokesperson also said: "In the interview [McCain] also observed that the values protected by the Constitution, by which he meant values such as respect for human life and dignity, are rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition." I am the last one to deny these people the right to speak her mind. Just do it in a rehab clinic. But why does the media fail to use their better judgment? Anne Coulter is a poison and her views must be silenced from the public airwaves. It must be silenced. AA
COULTER IN CNBC INTERVIEW: JEWS SHOULD BE “PERFECTED” & AMERICA BETTER OFF IF EVERYONE WERE CHRISTIAN
Media Matters for America has a complete transcript of Coulter’s comments -- and video -- available here:
http://mediamatters.org/items/200710100008"How does someone who says that Judaism should be thrown out, that Jews should be ‘perfected’ and that America would be better off were everyone Christian continue to receive a megaphone and platform from the news networks?" "When will the media say ‘enough is enough?’"
From Media Matters:
During the October 8 edition of CNBC's The Big Idea, host Donny Deutsch asked right-wing pundit Ann Coulter: "If you had your way ... and your dreams, which are genuine, came true ... what would this country look like?" Coulter responded, "It would look like New York City during the [2004] Republican National Convention. In fact, that's what I think heaven is going to look like." She described the convention as follows: "People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." Deutsch then asked, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" to which Coulter responded, "Yes." Later in the discussion, Deutsch said to her: "[Y]ou said we should throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians," and Coulter again replied, "Yes." When pressed by Deutsch regarding whether she wanted to be like "the head of Iran" and "wipe Israel off the Earth," Coulter stated: "No, we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say. ... That's what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws."
After a commercial break, Deutsch said that "Ann said she wanted to explain her last comment," and asked her, "So you don't think that was offensive?" Coulter responded: "No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be. I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe -- this is just a statement of what the New Testament is -- is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament." Coulter later said: "We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."
