Dear Friends:

Last week, residents of the Israeli community of Sderot organized a peaceful protest in Tel Aviv. Individuals set up tents in the Rabin Square to raise awareness of the continued rocket attacks they have been forced to endure.  The protesters have already been visited by Israeli mayors and council heads, and more officials are expected to attend. The Sderot residents have pledged to continue protesting until they get the attention of local and world leaders.

As I’ve stated before, I’ve cosponsored a resolution condemning the terrorists and the Governments of countries that have aided them in these attacks. These violent terrorists must be stopped and held accountable for their inhumane actions. Intelligence sources tell us that Iran and Syria have both provided the technical expertise necessary for Hamas to launch rockets.

My bill, H.Res 951, has already gained large bipartisan support. There are currently 145 cosponsors, including the late former Chairman of the Financial Services Committee Rep. Tom Lantos. H.Res 951 is expected to be addressed by the Foreign Affairs Committee this week. I hope that the committee can agree to the fact that Congress can’t waste anymore time, we must stand up for the victims in Israel by bringing this bill to the floor.

 Sincerely,

Scott Garrett

Member of Congress
