Gates: Israel's Nuclear
Bombs are for Peaceful Means
Aref Assaf, 12-09-2007
Utter
disillusionemnet, utter disgust- I had to replay a statement by
US Secretary of Defense twice to make sure I heard him right.
speaking to the annual Gulf cooperation council meeting, Gates
said
this of Israel’s nuclear program in which he defended
Israel's nuclear program on Saturday, saying the Jewish state
did not seek to destroy its neighbors or support terrorism,
unlike Iran.” The first reaction that came to me was, “Say
what?”
Israel is a terrorist state whenever they decide to launch an
attack upon innocent people such as the Lebanese and
Palestinians.
You will be sickened to read this article from
Global Research as you
read that the, “Israeli cabinet minister, Jacob Edery, has now
confirmed that "the Israeli army made use of phosphorous shells
during the war against Hezbollah in attacks against military
targets in open ground." Now please pay attention here that any
use of these weapons, “The use of chemical weapons against
civilians or against military targets in civilian areas is
outlawed by the Geneva Conventions.” Oh that is right, we no
longer pay attention to the Geneva Convention when we ourselves
have used water-boarding.
As I have been reading this article of the weaponry used by
Israel not only on the Lebanese people, but the people of Gaza,
I want to confront every single U.S. politician and presidential
candidate who is siding with Israel at the expense of innocent
people. The weaponry used against these people is lethal and
for Gates to defend Israel is unconscionable.
These weapons already used by the Israelis are not the big-boy
mushroom cloud weapons that they have in their stockpile, but
ones that are just as deadly and cause cancers such as
leukemia. If this is not terrorism, I do not know what else is.
Israel along with the United States has turned this region into
a toxic wasteland, yet no one in Washington cares. In fact,
dare I say the American people by and large do not care?
Someone has to care for these innocent people. There are some,
but not nearly enough to end this madness.
When Gates was asked at the Manama Dialogue conference if Israel
posed a threat, his response was, "No, I do not." For humanity’s
sake, Mr. Gates, please open your eyes.
I try to find at
least one humorous point within any article I read or a blunder
and here is exactly the blunder I speak of in responding to the
article in which Gates defends Israel: “Israel is widely assumed
to have the region's only atomic arsenal, but declines to
confirm or deny it. Washington has long avoided pressing Israel
to go public with its capabilities.”
It is no secret and has not been for years as to how many
nuclear warheads Israel presently owns as one reads Israel has
now over 400 nuclear warheads. The cat has already been let out
of the bag as one reads, “According to retired US Army Colonel
Warner D. Farr, M.D., Israel is the fifth largest nuclear
superpower in the world. By 1967, Israel already had 15 atomic
bombs in its arsenal. In 1976, their nuclear arsenal grew to 15
to 20 nukes, and by 1980 jumped to 200. According to Farr, in
1997, Israel now has over 400 nuclear and hydrogen weapons.
Yet with Israel’s propensity for invading and attacking knowing
full well the weaponry they do have which they do not own up to
having, our government must be made up of the Key-Stone Cops.
That is the only opinion I can come up with regarding our
government’s support of Israel.
I have been waiting to comment on the recent news article citing
that Iran halted their nuclear weapons program for some days now
and perhaps the Gates article was the right catalyst for me to
comment on any threat Iran poses towards us and the rest of that
region. While Iran does have weapons, Israel has the big guns.
I will compare it with Iran having a 22 caliber pistol and
Israel having a fully automatic SKS. You tell me who the threat
truly comes from.
Gates must think that the world will be suckered by his comments
or that he has a bridge to sell us if he opines no threat comes
from Israel. P.T. Barnum who was one of the co-founders of the
Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey circus once said, “There
is a sucker born every minute and two to take him.” And Gates
just proved Barnum correct. The thing that bothers me as well is
that this belief is held by most of our politicians beholden to
AIPAC and most of our presidential candidates. The lone people
of sanity are Congressman Ron Paul and former Senator Mike
Gravel.
Note to both Republicans and Democrats alike: I challenge you to
vote Paul and Gravel in your primaries instead of the top-tier
candidates who are blowing smoke when it comes to any threat
posed by Iran and no threat coming from Israel. Americans for
the most part are tired of being played for suckers. |
