Petition to ask NJ Governor Jon Corzine to create The New Jersey Arab Heritage Commission. We the undersigned ask NJ Governor John Corzine to sanction into law the creation of the Arab Heritage Commission, AHC. The AHC is needed to ensure timely, accurate and balanced information about the Arab world, its rich cultures and religions. The AMHC will primarily advise the Department of Education on how to ensure that public school courses accurately depict the Arab people and present a deeper, thoughtful picture of their predominately Islamic societies with special emphasis on the pivotal role of Christian Arabs and other minorities. Besides, AHC will work to promote Arab culture, history, and customs to other ethnic communities, and to build alliances with people and entities whose main objective is cultural tolerance and the promotion of positive diversity. The Commission will be comprised o leading intellectuals, educators and community leaders whose main objective is to ensure accuracy and a more encompassing learning experience which we hope to result in a more educated and tolerant future leaders.
