Our sincere thanks to all of you who attended or helped in making our November 13,2005 lecture on Palestine a great success.

The event was well attended and our keynote speaker, Mr. Maen Areikat, Director-General of the PLO's negotiations Affairs Department , was both informative and timely. To view AAF' Program Presentation, please click here.

Mr. Areikat provided an overview of the current situation in the Palestinian areas and outlined needed steps to improve living conditions . in light of the Israeli 'disengagement' from the Gaza strip. the upcoming under the Palestinian Legislative elections and other international developments. AAF's President, Aref Assaf along with prominent members from the community presented Mr. Areikat with a specially designed clock made in in Hebron, Palestine and bearing the name of AAF.

We also invited speakers from the Made in Palestine project to speak on the  important effort to bring Palestine art into the heart of New York, Samia Halaby passionately spoke of the power of images and expressions in molding positive and sympathetic perceptions of the Palestine struggle.

Zleikha Muhtaseb, head of the Women's and Children center in Hebron,  provided  a personal account of the suffering of the Palestinian people under the Israeli military occupation. A shortened segment of the movie Spider's web was shown.
