One little heart at a time,
Aref Assaf February 3, 2008
This is a topic that is truly
dear to my heart.
We shared earlier with you the news of the
impending arrival of a seven month Iraqi infant who is arriving
today to receive life saving heart surgery. We just spoke to
the mother who arrived this morning from Kuwait into
Washington, DC. If all goes as planned, the infant, named Karar, will
be operated on next week at The Children's Hospital in Newark. . The infant and his
mother will be staying in our home for the duration of their medical
visit. I have been involved in helping little children receive
medical assistance for over 20 years. Karar will be number 32 of
the children my wife and I have either hosted, provided
transportation, financial aid or translation to them. The
rewards are many and the least of which is helping a child
receive second chance to lead a normal life and returning a
hopeful smile onto their parents' faces. The story of these
children and the people who sponsor them have received media
attention, often front page coverage.
Here are some recent article on
the story of little Karar ( variously spelled).
