Tell the Story of America!
Redressing discrimination and treating all people equally are principles that are at the heart of the civil rights movement. These principles apply today as we debate ongoing efforts to reform our broken immigration system. For too long, our immigration laws have created a two-tiered society and perpetuated racial and ethnic discrimination. The Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR) and the Leadership on Conference on Civil Rights Education Fund (LCCREF) recognize that there are many different situations and stories that have brought people of all backgrounds to the United States. As this nation struggles with rewriting immigration policy, we at LCCR and LCCREF believe that it is crucial to recognize the diversity of the immigrant experience and to craft an immigration policy that addresses the needs of immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers from all countries of origin. Let's tell the story of America. Send us your story today! - Please include your name, photo, city/state of residence, country of origin and reason why you or your ancestors immigrated to the U.S.
